My Style Keeps Evolving!

Just when I thought I had found my style, it continues to develop before my eyes. I spent the day drawing for fun yesterday which I hadn’t done since before the month of December because I got too busy. I felt drawn to explore with different coloured lines and contrasting shapes.

I’m sure my work will continue to evolve and improve overtime, but I get really excited and inspired when it happens because it makes me feel like I’m moving forward and opening up new opportunities.

The illustration on the left is from one year ago and the one on the right demonstrates the evolving style, what do you think? It’s incredible the difference just one year makes!

Most of you probably recognize my work for the line work that I do, and although I still love working with lines, lately I really love soft simplicity of shapes outlined in a similar shade. When I look at some of my past work, I find some of the outlining a bit harsh, especially with a detailed illustration that has a lot of black outlines. This “new” style will allow me to draw more detailed sceneries that don’t look as busy I believe.
